New site, new book, and planning an art show

For the past couple of years, I've been mulling around the idea of turning Chair Shibari into more than just a kitschy Instagram feed. To make it something more tangible, I've made Instax prints and vinyl stickers, both to sell and to discreetly place in public areas for the delight and confusion of strangers. But I still wanted to go bigger with it. I want to do installation pieces in public spaces that persist longer than the time it takes to snap a few photos. Moving in that direction, I began talking to a couple of friends locally who manage gallery spaces to plan an art show, and settled on a small single-artist showing at the CoRK Arts District in February 2024.
My initial thought was to simply have a few chairs tied and suspended in the space with framed prints of new and existing Chair Shibari photos on the walls. But, then I remembered another idea I had early in my Chair Shibari journey: to publish a series of art books on certain themes related to Chair Shibari. I set out and conducted a few bespoke photo shoots for that book and am now in the final stages of designing it to have printed copies available in time for my gallery opening.
Finally, this site is another piece of this effort. I wanted to better capture the full body of my work around Chair Shibari than is possible through social media streams. I'm excited about this journey and look forward to continuing to create and share my art with the rest of the world.
